Sustainable Food Center cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food.  SFC envisions a food secure community where all children and adults grow, share and prepare healthy, local food.

Development Director

SFC is looking for an energetic, experienced fundraising professional to direct the agency’s annual fund plan and capital campaign, someone with enthusiasm for working with a nonprofit changing the landscape of our local food system.  This position will be instrumental in helping take SFC to the next level.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide strong leadership and direction for the agency’s capital campaign
  • Assist capital campaign steering committee in securing 2 million dollars over 2-4 years
  • Lead the major gifts and annual giving drive of SFC’s annual fund plan
  • Co-lead with Community Relations personnel the corporate giving drive of SFC’s annual fund plan
  • Supervise 2 development staff (contract grant writer and Community Relations personnel) as well as interns/volunteers in the Development Department
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years experience fundraising for charitable giving goals of $500,000+
  • Knowledge of how to build a major gifts program and experience with major donors
  • Experience fundraising for capital campaigns of 2 million+ preferred
  • Proficiency using Raiser’s Edge donor software
  • Knowledge and experience with Austin/Central Texas donor community
  • Experience supervising a small team of staff
