The Austin Farmers' Market:
The Austin Farmers' Market, a vibrant network of farmers' markets and farm stands, promotes fresh produce grown within 150 miles of Austin. This urban market network offers customers a place to buy fresh, nutritious, seasonal foods and farmers a stable outlet for their goods, strengthens the local economy, increases sales among downtown merchants, builds community, and fosters a sustainable food system.
The AFM features locally-grown produce from a network of 55 farmers, as well as fresh baked breads, free range eggs, meats and cheeses, golden honey, fragrant flowers, tantalizing teas and coffee, jams, salsas, salad dressings, soap, and dozens of hand-made crafts and art. Delicious food, live music, art, kids ' activities, and chef's demonstrations make this market a popular gathering spot for the community.
